Bio

Matt is a native of north central Illinois and grew up on a farm in Bureau County. After receiving his B.S. degrees in Real Estate Finance and Entrepreneurial Business Management from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), he moved to Charleston, SC to pursue a career in building and real estate. Focusing on custom design/build residential new construction and renovations, he started Cutting Edge Construction in 2003. After earning his MBA Finance degree from SIUC in 2009, Matt headed back to SC and started Brush Creek Woodworks as a sister company to Cutting Edge and the real estate company, Ashley Cooper Real Estate. His love of the building arts led him to teach business classes as an Adjunct Professor at the American College of the Building Arts in Charleston. Matt brings his 25 years of business and construction experiences to studioK Architecture assisting with construction drawings, business management, technology needs and fixing all things that break around the office. You can often find him up on a ladder or neck deep in a spreadsheet. In addition to his work at studioK, Matt farms and pursues community driven revitalization and development projects, as well as volunteers his time serving on the Zoning/Planning Commission as well as on the board of directors for Arukah Institute of Healing, and as a member of Princeton Rotary.
