Project Brief

The doctors at Mercer County Family Eye Care contacted us in 2020 to help them with a multi-phase renovation to their Aledo office to make this second location more fitting aesthetically with their Rock Island location. MCFEC had the opportunity to take advantage of a grant program through the City of Aledo and wanted to make sure that they made appropriate improvements that would speak to the history of the building and help improve their community. In Phase 1 we opened the previously enclosed wall of the front façade as it had been intended originally with 10’ tall storefront glass and moved the main entry door back to the center of the building. We chose a paint scheme to draw attention to the historic architectural details and incorporated a new accessible entrance to better serve our client’s customers. Phase 2 involved making updates to the interior which included removing the low acoustic ceiling tile and exposing the 13 foot high historic tin ceiling and updating the layout, finishes, and fixtures. MFCEC was able to successfully obtain multiple grants for the project with our help through navigating the application and presentation process.
